Ugh! Just can't seem to get your skin to behave? Have you ever wondered why your skin continues to break out? You've tried several products, several different ways, but nothing seems to work? There may be a solution for you, something simple, but necessary to obtain optimal skin. Consistency! Yes, you're skin requires consistent care and cleaning methods. Whether it's acne, dry skin or excess oil, everyone deals with their own skin issues. But no matter what your skin type or skin issue, the solution for improving skin is always the same. If you ever want to see blemish free skin you have to adopt a skincare routine that you complete religiously. Keeping a consistent skincare routine will help to treat your wrinkles, even out skin tone, prevent acne, and improve the clarity of your skin. Overall consistency is key when it comes to skincare effectiveness.
Here are some quick tips for a consistent skincare routine:
1. Product usage- Are you using the products correctly as instructed by the label directions? If the product requires that you use it three times a day, but you're only using it one time a day the product may not be as effective. You can't expect to see results from a product that you are not using correctly or consistently. So basically your commitment needs to match your expectations. Follow the product's instructions and use accordingly.
2. Cleansing- Are you washing your face consistently at night? Your skin actually works harder while you sleep to regenerate. Cell turnover is faster at night and this allows your products to do their job more efficiently. If you are consistent and properly wash your face and remove any makeup every night, your skin will be better able to repair itself, while moisturizers, serums, and lotions will absorb better into your skin.
3. Stick it out- Have you ever purchased the latest skincare treatment or beauty tool promising results only to use it a couple of times before saying it doesn’t work? Don't get so caught up in unrealistic expectations or miracle ingredients that you expect instant results. Real results does not happen overnight. It will take at least 30-45 days before you may see any results. Basically stick to your skincare routine, be consistent, and you will see radiant glowing skin as a result!
Help!! I just purchased a new skincare product and it's breaking me out! Skin purging, Is it a breakout or a skin purge? This is usually the question when confronted with new skincare products and skin breakouts. Skin purging can be treaky, as it can present similar to the form of a skin breakout. Although they both appear the same, they are both very different. Skin purging occurs after the use of a new skincare product that causes your skin to breakout.
Purging happens because these products and treatments make you shed dead skin cells rapidly, aiding in the release of trapped sebum and debris in skin pores. By doing so, it accelerates the rate at which microcomedones rise to the surface and become skin blemishes. Microcomedones are "pre-existing clogged pores." While eventually microcomedones would have risen to the surface of the skin, purging causes it to occur ten times faster and simultaneously.
Stay tuned, there is a happy ending to this story! The rapid skin cell turnover will purge the skin by unclogging your pores and releasing dirt and oil. It's like a deep pore cleansing, a skin detox! After detoxification comes the prize, your skin will appear more radiant. Although this process may take some time, it will be well worth it in the end. So next time around ask yourself? Did you use a new skincare product that may have triggered a rapid skin cell turnover? Is the breakout occurring in your typical problem areas? Did the breakout last longer than 8 to 10 weeks?
Now skin breakouts can be caused by several things. but usually occur when skincare products irritate the skin causing inflammations. The inflammation causes microcomedones to flare up, turning into visible acne. In addition, the irritation causes a disruption in the skin barrier, hence compromising the skin to more acne causing bacteria. If at any time it appears that a product has a reverse effect on your skin, discontinue use immediately to avoid causing more severe or permanent damage to your skin.
Skin breakouts can also occur after the use of a new skincare product, but extends a prolonged length of time. So ask yourself, did the new product irritate my skin while using? Does the new product contain any rapid skin cell turnover ingredients? Is the breakout occurring in new areas of the skin where you usually would not have any breakouts? If any of these relate, than most likely you're experiencing a skin breakout!
But there is light at the end of the tunnel! If your skin is purging, it will get better and better over time, eventually revealing cleaner, clearer, and brighter skin!

Skincare Routine: Everyone should have a skincare routine that they utilize on a daily, if not, weekly basis.
